Julie Armbruster ART is excited to announce a new exhibition on display at Eclipse Salon from April 14-June 1st, 2026.

Titled “Vital Alterations,” this collection blends story-driven visuals with folk-surreal motifs. The artist’s style is unmistakable, portraying cartoonish figures with wide, knowing eyes that drift between domestic interiors and dreamlike forests, blurring the boundary between the ordinary and the mythic.

There is a deliberate illustrative quality to the linework, and it is sharpened by compositional control and a sophisticated use of color. Jewel-toned greens radiate outward in Peek, like a psychic aura, while elsewhere muted browns and golds evoke a medieval, almost alchemical sensibility. Animals and human figures coexist in ambiguous relationships, suggesting fables without a moral closure.

What first appears playful gradually reveals a deeper psychological texture—an exploration of identity, transformation, and the quiet strangeness embedded in everyday life.

The five newest works in the salon reception belong to a series titled “Neo-Wampus” and retell the Appalachian legend through a feminist lens, while other works from the Moon Dragon, Drawlloween, and Neo-Appalachia series showcase the artist's special interpretation of familiar places and creatures.
